Experience the breathtaking majesty of the rugged San Juan Mountains with one of our We offer half-day and full-day tours for one to sxi people per vehicle. Full-day tours include picnic lunches and all tours include waters and pop to ensure that you stay hydrated in our high altitude terrain. Tours start at our store, generally by 8 am in the morning, but we will try to accomodate your needs for other start times if we can. Half-day tours end at 12:30 pm. Full-day tours return to The Sportsman at 5 pm. We can pick-up and drop-off at your location if you are staying in Lake City or somewhere along the tour route. Tour fees do not include tour guide gratuity (which is discretionary), but it averages about 25 percent. Group rates vary, so contact us for more information. Tour Information and Fees
Reservations and Cancellations Walk-ins are accepted, but reservations are suggested, especially during our summer season ... June, July and August. Call us at 970-944-2526 or email us at info@lakecitysportsman.com. We require credit cards for reservations and immediately charge you for 50 percent of tour cost. The other 50 percent is charged immediately after the tour. Cancel at least 14 days in advance and your fee is fully refunded. After that, the 50 percent up-front charge is not refunded. Alpine Loop The "Loop" as it's called is the country's highest 4-wheel drive road and is a beautiful way to see the Rockies at their fullest without having to hike. The highest point along the route is 12,980 feet. This is our most popular tour, so we suggest reservations, especially during our busy summer season.. American Basin This half-day tour takes you to the well-known and beautiful valley where the Lake Fork of the Gunnison begins and millions upon millions of flowers are in bloom during the summer. It's a great way to spend your morning, and we suggest extending the trip to include a picnic lunch. Let us know and we'll add some food to the trip for a small fee. Again, we suggest reservations during our busy summer season. Big Blue Big Blue is a beautiful valley with a stream running through it. It's the quintessential photo op that you think of when you picture a "mountain valley" in your mind's eye, except it is very real and twice as beautiful in person. Again, this trip would be a good one to add a few picnic lunches for a small fee. Just let us know ahead of time. Tours Offerred Full-Day Fees

- Adults are $75/person Cebolla (se voy yah) means onion in Spanish, but it's really a beautiful mountain stream that meanders from the Slumgullion pass area all the way to Blue Mesa reservoir. This half-day tour takes you along the upper-half of the stream, where you pass beautiful valleys as well as gorgeous canyons. Cebolla Loop Wager Gulch Wager Gulgh is a half-day tour that takes you a bit past American Basin and into a very rugged, deep canyon. If you want to see a true "mountain gorge," this is the tour for you.
